Embracing Vintage Charm in a Cozy Cottage Living Room

There's a certain warmth that comes with blending timeless designs into a modern space.

Recently, we transformed the living room of a quaint cottage, infusing it with a retro aesthetic that speaks to both nostalgia and comfort.

Let me walk you through this space, detailing each element that brings this room to life.

Suspended from the rustic wooden beams of the cottage ceiling, the Akari 75A Washi Paper Lamp by Isamu Noguchi casts a soft, ambient glow over the room.

It's a statement piece that draws the eye upward, emphasizing the height and natural textures of the space.

Centered beneath the lamp, we've placed two of Pierre Jeanneret's Capitol Complex Armchairs from his Chandigarh series.

These chairs, with their iconic V-shaped walnut frames in a rich, vintage finish, offer both style and comfort.

The seats are upholstered in a supple beige boucle fabric, inviting guests to sit and stay a while.

Against one wall stands a sleek, metal TV cabinet inspired by USM Haller designs.

Comprising four modular units, this cabinet is as functional as it is stylish.

Its modular nature allows for customization based on the room's dimensions, and for those who enjoy a hands-on approach, assembling this piece yourself can be both economical and rewarding.

Turning our attention to the wall opposite the television, we've placed a three-seater sofa from the LC3 series.

Crafted from light blue genuine leather, this sofa is a nod to mid-century modern design.

Its chromed metal tubular frame mirrors the structure of the TV cabinet, creating a cohesive look that honors the Bauhaus principles of form and function.

Beside the sofa, the C Side Table, also made from chromed metal tubing, offers a convenient spot for a book or a cup of tea.

Atop the table sits the Akari 1A Table Lamp, adding a touch of artistry and illumination.

At the opposite end of the sofa, the Akari 10A Floor Lamp stands gracefully, its washi paper shade diffusing light gently into the corner.

Here, another of Jeanneret's Capitol Complex Armchairs creates a cozy nook—perfect for quiet moments of reflection or intimate conversations.

The pairing of the chair and floor lamp transforms this corner into a favorite spot in the living room.

A closer look at the two corners of the living room reveals thoughtful arrangements that balance function and style.

Each piece has been chosen not just for its aesthetic appeal but also for the way it contributes to the room's overall harmony.

As you step out from the living room, the space extends into the villa's backyard.

We've set up a round walnut dining table here, ideal for weekend gatherings and meals under the open sky.

Surrounding the table are four vintage Marcel Breuer Cesca Cane Chairs, their classic design adding a timeless touch to the outdoor setting.

Above the dining table, a beautiful Akari 75A Washi Paper Pendant Lamp by Isamu Noguchi is suspended, creating a dramatic focal point.

The large, round shape fills the space with a delightful visual weight, while the lightweight paper material brings an airy sense of balance, evoking a feeling of floating elegance.

For those who admire Mid-Century Modern style, this pendant lamp is an unmissable statement piece that completes the festive setting.
